Great health book。 In line with my diet and contains lots of exercises and recipes。
Kathi,
I have mixed feelings about this。 While I got some wonderful insights, an audiobook was probably not the best vehicle for this material。 Dr。 Ornish's voice is steady and well modulated, but when he got in to technical terms and descriptions, I found my mind wandering。 zzzzzz Audio descriptions of physical exercises and body movements are difficult to interpret -- you need the visual aids! (I know, I know, there are diagrams in the pdf)。 I fast-forwarded to the end of that chapter。Anne's voice, o I have mixed feelings about this。 While I got some wonderful insights, an audiobook was probably not the best vehicle for this material。 Dr。 Ornish's voice is steady and well modulated, but when he got in to technical terms and descriptions, I found my mind wandering。 zzzzzz Audio descriptions of physical exercises and body movements are difficult to interpret -- you need the visual aids! I love Dean Ornish but this was actually not any “new” news。 Eat more Whole Foods。 Move your body。 Reduce stress。 Love well。

Lisa,
I'm an Ornish fan of long standing。 I especially respect that while his core philosophies haven't changed since the early days (i。e。, eat a mostly plant-based diet, move more, work on managing stress, cultivate loving and supportive relationships), as science and research have advanced, he has refined his specific food recommendations accordingly。 Recommended。 I'm an Ornish fan of long standing。 I especially respect that while his core philosophies haven't changed since the early days (i。e。, eat a mostly plant-based diet, move more, work on managing stress, cultivate loving and supportive relationships), as science and research have advanced, he has refined his specific food recommendations accordingly。 Recommended。 。。。more
Live Your Best Life ,
Dr。 Dean Ornish always reminds me that nutrition and exercise are only half of the puzzle to good health and well-being。 The other half of that puzzle is stress management and loving/intimate relationships。 I love his wholistic approach to health。 I also love that insurance companies are now funding and working with his program to support others。 Great read!
Nancy Ellen,
Good information。

Ann Dake,
Lifestyle book based on better (vegan) eating, more exercise, less stress, more love, meditation etc。 Great ideas, maybe a bit hard to implement。
Melynda DeCarlo,
Principle #1) The mind and body are inexplicably linked。 Principle #2) Emotions drive your physiology。 There are 6 Pillars of Well Being;Sleep•Meditation•Movement•Healthy Emotions•Nutrition & Grounding / Focus on Breath Work! A symptom is a sign that your body is out of balance。 Consider: The Five Elements: Space, Air, Water, Earth and Fire。 What’s your Dosha? Vatta? Use Sesame seed or Almond Oil for Massage
Becky,
I attended a talk by the author and received a copy of his book。 There’s a lot of wonderful advice on how to live a healthier life in his talks and book, with examples that make it possible。 The diet may be a big change for you but the exercise is simple, low impact with pictures and directions for each move。 He also goes over the science of all components to living a better life, including reducing stress and increasing social contact and support。
Petrica,
Whole-foods, plant-based is the new black。 Becoming vegetarian started as a long road to hell, but turned up as a nice walk in heavens。 The book might be a tipping point for the ones trying to reduce their meat/animal product intakes regardless the reason behind it。
Jeannie Hannan,
I highly recommend this book!
Karen,
Best book and program。 It’s really not hard to be plant based。 The health improvements are worth it。
Jill Andrews,
For me this is a lengthy reinforcing of what I already know, with a common sense approach, rather than any ground breaking ideas。

I think the authors do a commendable job explaining how many diseases can be reversed through diet and lifestyle intervention。 I also believe that a whole foods plant-based diet is the key。 I also found it interesting how they presented data against the high-fat movement。 They also talk about exercise and stress reduction in our 24/7 world, which is critical。 I understand that this makes things easier for people, however, my one criticism is that they suggest eating some prepared foods which I d I think the authors do a commendable job explaining how many diseases can be reversed through diet and lifestyle intervention。 I also believe that a whole foods plant-based diet is the key。 I also found it interesting how they presented data against the high-fat movement。 They also talk about exercise and stress reduction in our 24/7 world, which is critical。 I understand that this makes things easier for people, however, my one criticism is that they suggest eating some prepared foods which I don’t agree with, processed foods should be eliminated。 As Michael Pollan said: plants but nothing from a plant。 。。。more
Jan Mage,
I expected super low fat vegan concepts and there they were。 I am not vegan but it is interesting to see where I might find a healthier and still tasty way to eat more in a whole food plant inclusive way。 The exercise part was better than expected。 Much of it is quite good and serves as instructions for those unfamiliar or a reminder for others on the importance of eating well。 But let me tell you, those two are so fascinated, proud, and consumed by how eating vegan makes you have hard ons that I expected super low fat vegan concepts and there they were。 I am not vegan but it is interesting to see where I might find a healthier and still tasty way to eat more in a whole food plant inclusive way。 The exercise part was better than expected。 Much of it is quite good and serves as instructions for those unfamiliar or a reminder for others on the importance of eating well。 But let me tell you, those two are so fascinated, proud, and consumed by how eating vegan makes you have hard ons that last forever (I mean, really - a study on length and frequency???!) and how it makes you desire inventive sex (throughout the book popping up all over the freaking place)。 There they really lost me。 If it wasn't for the exercise part and general info, I'd have given it a two star rating。 If you want to learn how to eat vegan for health - you will enjoy this book。 But don't harass the servers and cooks at restaurants in the manner they suggest doing。 If you can't eat there without causing a scene, cook at home。 。。。more
Amanda,
I like the idea of 21 minutes a day to transform one's life, and I do believe that the four concepts taught in the book are required for a healthy life。 I also really enjoyed the easy to use tables in the back of the book for food suggestions, especially those that are pre-packaged and easy to use on the go。 What bothers me about this book and idea, and the reason I did not score this as a 5, is: the foods are not practical for the typical American。 Most suggestions are not economically savvy。 I I like the idea of 21 minutes a day to transform one's life, and I do believe that the four concepts taught in the book are required for a healthy life。 I also really enjoyed the easy to use tables in the back of the book for food suggestions, especially those that are pre-packaged and easy to use on the go。 What bothers me about this book and idea, and the reason I did not score this as a 5, is: the foods are not practical for the typical American。 Most suggestions are not economically savvy。 It is hard for me to get behind an idea/concept that, no matter how well received, is elitist。 Also, there are no Evidence BAsed Studies to support the long term benefits of this program。 Rehab programs use this in Cardiology, but again - no long term evidence to support this concept having a lasting impact on health。 Interesting, easy read with useful tables and ideas。 。。。more

Another well-researched, clinically-proven Ornish book on what to eat and how to live。 Meal plans, recipes, and illustrations make it all doable, even for non-exercisers and new vegetarians。
